How to send a card using our web page:
- You must enter your password (which we give you), your "From"
email address, and "To" email address(es).
- Enter your subject and email message, and press the "Send Mail"
button.
- To send to multiple email addresses, separate the email addresses
with a comma and/or a space.
- To use someone's real name, use this format: Their Name Here <email@something.com>
How to send cards using the Netscape Messenger program:
Note: Netscape Messenger (program) is not the same as Netscape Webmail
(web email service).
Option A
>>> Setting up your card the first time:
- Send yourself a blank card (no subject or message) using our web page
(see above).
- Click Message-Edit Message As New.
- Note: The animated card will look strange (e.g. two rectangles, with
some funny yellow symbols). Just ignore these, and do not
delete them (it is the code for the card).
- Click File-Save As-Template.
- Edit this email and send just as you normally would.
>>> To compose a new email, after your card is set up:
- To start a new email, click on your Template folder (somewhere below
your Inbox), and double click on the template you want to use.
- Edit this email and send just as you normally would.
Option B
>>> Setting up your card the first time:
- We will send you a special file via email. The file name will be something
like: CARDyourcardname.htm.
- Save the file to your hard drive.
- Start a new email, but don't put in any information. Attach
the file to the email, and then do File-Save As-Template. Now
you have a template in your Templates folder. Double-click the template
to use it to start a new email, and send as you normally would.
- After the email is sent, the animated card will appear at the bottom
of the email (normally, you can view it in your Sent mail folder).
- Optional: If you get a horizontal bar between your email text and
your animated card (and you don't like it), click on Options, and change
the Format drop-down selection to "HTML Text only".
How to send a card using Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express
>>> Setting up your card the first time:
- Click on "Message - New Message Using - Web Page". (Some
versions of Outlook use 'Action'.)
- Type in the web page address that contains your card, for example:
http://businesscardconnection.com/cards/something.htm
Hint: When you start typing, Outlook may give you a list that includes
this page.
Note: Do type in the address to -send- a card, which includes "sendcard.htm",
use the web page where your card is displayed. If you use the wrong
address, just exit the card and start over.
- Delete the text below the card (arrows and copyright notice) as you
wish.
- Click "File - Save As".
- Find "Save as type" and select "HTML files". Type
in a "File name" (example: BusCard)
- Save the file to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery\.
- Edit and send this email just as you normally would.
>>> To compose a new email, after your card is set up:
- Click on "Message - New Message Using". (Some versions
of Outlook use 'Action'.)
Choose your name from the list (it should be first). If your
card name is not on the list, click on "Select Stationery"
and choose your name from that list. If it is not in that
list of files, then you probably saved your file (instructions above)
in the wrong directory.
- Edit this email and send just as you normally would.
Please
if these instructions do not match the commands on your
program, so we can update them.
Other Questions
- Will all email recipients be able to see the animated card?
The animated cards require the Flash plug-in, which is standard on most
browsers (and can be added to the rest). If a person does not have Flash,
they will be able to read the email, but not be able to view the animated
card. In most cases, the animated card will be viewable in the body
of the email. If you are using a web-based email service (Yahoo, Hotmail)
that blocks certain content (including Flash), you will be able to click
on a link in the email to view the card in your browser. Some corporate
firewalls block some content, so the recipient will have to click on
the link to see the animated Flash card.
- What if email recipients don't have Flash? They will not be
able to view the animated card, but they will still get the email and
be able to read the text message. You can get the Flash plug-in by clicking
on 'Flash Download' at the bottom left corner of this page.
